I do the housewife stuff everyday.
We are a traditional family.
By that I mean that the husband earns the money and the wife stays with the kids and runs the household.
We're a one income family. By choice. This is the kind of family that Tony and I have always wanted.
The traditional family is now the minority in this country (USA). I can't remember exactly what the statistic is, but something like 25% to 28%. I was really surprised it was that low because I know a lot of families structured like ours.
My mom sent me a link to this interesting article about how women under 30 just don't have the domestic skills that their mothers and grandmothers have/had. I understand that a lot of homey-type abilities just aren't needed anymore, but I still think it's sad to lose that know-how because it can't hurt to have the knowledge even if you never have to utilize it. My goal is to learn as much as I can about how to do stuff. Not just the things that Laura Ingalls Wilder could do (that woman and her family could do ANYTHING!!!), but I'd like to know how to do some of the boy scout stuff too. I've got a ways to go!
