Today I Fed My Baby.

This is not a post all about how breast is best and no one should ever bottle feed.

I know that for some people it's a  sensitive and controversial subject.

My personal feeling is that everyone can make their own decisions and that everyone is living their own life.  Let's leave it that way.  Mommas (and daddies!!) need to be supportive.  No judging.  No snide remarks.  Just give input when asked and helping hands where needed.

Nope. Not me nor my baby. Just a stock photo. Cuz we all like pictures.

I was formula fed because my mother wasn't physically able to nurse, and I don't think I'm any less intelligent because of that.  I'm grateful that she was emotionally ok with it and focused on being a loving mom in all the many other ways that kids need their mothers.

Again, not mine.  But cute anyways.  :)

My main reason for choosing to nurse my babies was because it's CHEEEEEEP!  And because I'm sharing my anti-bodies with the babe.  I've got good anti-bodies.  **flexing**  Yeah.  Oh, and I think my hormones are happier too.  :)  I just feel so snuggly and happy when I'm feeding my baby.  Though, to be honest - when Ash got switched to bottles at 7.5 months (because it was time to invite Britt into our family), I still felt that to a certain degree.

My biggest concern about nursing with both of my daughters was, "Are they getting enough?"  I stressed about it for the first 4 months of Ash's life and again for Britt's.

You can imagine how much I love the sound of liquid swooshing around in Britt's belly when I bounce her up and down.

Yep.

On my list of top 10 things to hear!

An obviously well-fed and happy baby.  And this one IS mine!  And so is the studly daddy holding her.  ;)

So, since this is a nursing post, I figured I might as well add a little plug for the giveaway that Life In A Shoe is having!  So, those of you who are currently nursing, or know someone who is, head on over and check it out!  They are giving away Milk Diapers!  Hahaha.  Funny name for nursing pads.  Anyways, I get a free entry if I mention it in my post.  :)

One more thing.  I've been reading on a lot of mamas' blog posts about how they can't drink milk while nursing.  That really stinks since it's hot right now and I love me some ice cream almost every night!

Last night I picked up a pint of some hemp-milk ice cream called Tempt.  It's dairy-free and soy-free and I bought it for Ash (due to her lovely allergies).

Long story short, I helped her eat it.  Their Vanilla Bean is goooooooooooooooooood!!!

So there you have it.  Go get some.  You can thank me later.  :)

Yummylisciousness.

Well, that's it for tonight!  It was a good day.  Hope yours was pleasant too.

woot for breast feeding! Hey, quick question... do you ever feel like you have to choose between cutting calories (to lose weight) and eating enough calories (to make milk?) Just wondering... I don't want my milk supply to decrease but I am getting pretty frustrated with my weight as of late...

Been there I drank rice milk while nursing my babies because of all the allergies.

Well, I'm obviously a big fan of breastfeeding {Kam is 19 months and still going strong}. But, I fully support those who choose to bottle feed. :)

Never had to avoid milk whilst breastfeeding, but I didn't drink any coffee at all with my youngest (that was hard with a newborn and 2 kids under 3), because I read that coffee gives babies colic. And it worked! No colic for no3!

I am a human cow. I make A LOT of milk. A LOT. I nursed both my babies and never had to buy formula, even after returning to work full time a couple months post-partum with both.

I couldn't eat onions while nursing. Gave my boy gas something awful.

I chose breastfeeding for many reasons, but number one was weight loss. It was the best diet I've ever been on. Sometimes I think I'd like to be a wet nurse just so I could eat ice cream every night.

I got to breast feed my son but when my duaghter came along she refused. She hated breats milk, even from a bottle so after two weeks I gave up. She has been bottle fed ever since and it made me feel kind of sad. I have mixed feelings but I think sometimes circumstances just take over and we can't let ourselves feel guilt and move on. Nice post!
