Today I Soaked Up the Sun.

Blueberries at the Beach

It appears to finally be summertime here in the Pacific Northwest.  July was spotty and June was just plain cold and rainy.  But August (and if I'm honest, the end of July) has brought warmth and glorious sunshine!
Those of you who have been dealing with those awful heat waves are probably rolling your eyes at me right now and thinking, "count your blessings, whiner!"

Watermelon at the Beach

We went to the beach and had a picnic of blueberries ,nectarines, watermelon, strawberries, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, carrots, hummus, and lunchmeat.  It was lovely.  Ash had a little of everything and two slices of watermelon and was off to collect shells and explore.  Britt plunked herself down and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my preparations.  That girl knows how to eat!  After the picnic, we played in the sand and threw rocks in the waves.  Ash got brave and waded around in the freezing water clear up to her knees.  Britt and I got our toes wet and decided that was plenty.

Baby Beach Bum
(yes, her suit is a tad small)

I'm hoping that we can make more trips to the beach since we've got about one month left of summer and we've only been twice.  Hopefully, next time I'll have my real camera instead of taking fuzzy pics with my phone.  :)

And now to announce the cookbook giveway winner:  MYRNIE!!!!!!!

Myrnie said, "Fun!  I have the prairie cookbook for my girls, tucked away for when they're ready.  :)  Molly's cookbook sounds amazing!"

Oh, it is!  :D

Thanks to everyone for participating!

yay! congrats Myrnie.

And yes, I am rolling my eyes at you. But then again, I'd be doing the same thing if I were in your place. We'll be in 100+ degree weather probably until the very end of September. Mid-September if we're LUCKY.

Have fun at the beach! The girls look adorable and your smorgasborde sounds scrumptious.

Awww the beach! When people mention the beach and mountains, that's when I wish I lived somewhere different. I moved back here to be near family.
