I finally got around to making blackberry jam. I used the Ball brand of freezer jam pectin and just followed the directions under the label.

It was surprisingly easy. I just mixed the sugar and pectin and then the fruit. Then poured it into jars to set and lastly...
Voila! Three jars of yummy jam. And a lot less sugar than I expected too.
P.S. On a completely different topic, would it be completely lame for me to make my own birthday cake?

No, it's not lame to make your own cake. Cuz then you can make it exactly how you want it! Yum.

Oh I've made my own birthday cake before. I made one of those BIG cupcake ones. My mom bought me a pan the previous year. I wanted to use it.
i would love to make jam ... and although i am late to comment on this since i saw on the post above that you made your birthday cake ... i don't think it is lame at all ... i make myself cake all the time ... worst part, not my birthday :)
