Today I Realized I Really, REALLY Like the Name Pippa.

I had no idea about Kate Middleton having a younger sister.  To be honest, I haven't been paying any attention to Prince William and Kate at all.  But this morning I decided to check out the rebroadcast of the royal wedding.  My honest to goodness thoughts about the ceremony?  Snoooooore.  I didn't even finish watching it.  Apologies in advance to those of you who love this couple (Amy).  :)  But when I saw the video and pictures of the bride's maid of honor my jaw dropped.  She's such a cute girl and her dress (though way too low cut) was beautiful.

Do the rest of you fall in love with names because of people you know (or book/movie characters) making their names desirable?  Sometimes it works in the other direction.  I've mentioned names to Tony only to find out he abhors them because of people he once knew. Haha!

So - dibs on Pippa.  But first I'm going to have an Alice.  Then a Pippa.  :)  I've also got my first two boys named as well.  Do you have a list of names all ready to use?  My mom always spent the whole nine months of pregnancy weighing and measuring and thinking and comparing to come up with the perfect name.  Hubster and I had our girls' names totally picked out before they were born.  It nice and simple.

Scott and I have struggled with our boy names. We named both Andrew and Aaron the day after they were born, because we just couldn't come up with anything we liked until then.

However, we've had two little girl names picked out for such a long, long time! I'm dying to have a little girl someday so we can use at least one of the names we have in mind!

I so agree! Cutest name ever! It's all yours though. :)

I actually love it too... haha... We liked Mia for a girl, I wanted a Megan. If Rae was a boy, she would have been Eli. I really liked Jonah for a long time, Tim flat out refused. Glad he did, I am not a big fan now. :)

Ah, no offense taken, J! lol. It was kinda boring at parts. We fast-forwarded a ton of stuff. I liked when they exchanged vows and I liked making fun of hats, but seriously, FOUR minutes of marching down an isle? Sheesh. I ate it all up though, of course. Kate looked divine. Poor Wills looked like he wanted to faint.

Anyway, YES the name Pippa is SO cute and I agree that it's totally because of Kate's adorable sister. You can keep Pippa if I can have Kate. :)

I like the name Pippa too. I had my first son's name picked out since I was in high school. The second son I didn't know what I would name him till I was about 6 months pregnant.

Since my husband and I are both artists, well let's just say that we were both PICKY with names. Their middle names had to match and flow with the first and last names. Mica Zachary and Isaak Jaxon. Mica was named after Mica the mineral part of a rock; it's also used in some paints. Isaak was named after the singer Chris Isaak {I just liked the spelling of his last name and how he has a sexy voice}. We both loved the name Jaxon as a first name, but Mica and Jaxon together sounded like Michael Jackson. I like his music, but he was an odd one. I also LOVE the name Harrison. George Harrison, Harrison Ford and Prince Harry are all talented, handsome people! ;)

Our girl name was Savannah Claire. I LOVE that name! I lived in Savannah, GA for awhile and there is a Savannah, MO {hubs is from MO}. I also liked Kristen Shay. We liked Aurora {Rory} and Scarlett too. No girls. :(

We're done having kids. I was sort of sad about it, but they are a lot of money and work. Plus we watch my sister's two, two days a week. It gets to be a lot.

Going to the hospital with our first, Jack, we had NO name picked out for a girl. And we hadn't found out what we were having....For Henry we had agreed on Liliana for a girl....so that's what number 3 ended up being. (Although for Lily we'd thought Remi, if she'd been a boy).

I definitely associate names with people and you know what's funny, I have found that there are certain names that I never get along with Rebekah (spelled that way), David. And people I always get along with Christine (or any variation of the name), Jennifer, Nichole. This has caused me give serious thought to what names my future children will have, otherwise, we may be doomed to not get along from the very beginning!

I haven't followed Kate and William much (I actually didn't even know who Kate was until my English bro-in-law was visiting this last Christmas... anyway!) I loved the ceremony! I thought it was beautiful. And, yes, I loved the bride's maids too!
And yes! We have our future kids' names picked out already! I think it is actually a pretty bad system because I like the names so much I just HAVE to have one more boy and one more girl! (jk ;))

We were doing family history when the name of one of my husband's female ancestors jumped out at us and we named our daughter after her, Sarah Elizabeth. Lovely. Names came to us pretty quickly and with a little serendipity thrown in.

I have to admit that I loved the Royal Wedding. Some of the hats were GOOFY. I watched the whole ceremony because there were moments when it was obvious from funny, loving looks William gave his bride they are not stiff, formal people. Those asides were worth the long stuff. :)

What do you think of the big news last night and today?

glad to her its not just my other half who dismisses names based on past aquaintances.
For example, this baby cannot be called Heidi because Ian went to school with a girl called "smelly Heidi"!
So mature! x

I basically wanted traditional American names for my babies, easy to spell, easy to remember by others, with M.A. initials and with a prestigious sound to them, and as much as possible NOT named after anyone we know, NOT even family members, hence - 'Matthew Alexander' and 'Mark Anthony'! The name 'Matthew Alexander' I have picked up before Matthew was even conceived. But 'Mark Anthony', it took us until Mark was born to finalize his name to be that because we couldn't come up with other M.A. names. But we haven't regret giving them their name, yet. Their names suited them. If I had a baby girl, her names would be 'Maegan Alexis'!

I have never heard of the name 'Pippa' before the royal wedding. It's very UNusual name that it will not spark my interest.

Jamie,

I purposely didn't watch the wedding even though I sat through and watched his parent's entire wedding. I did watch a few highlights.

I use to watch a soap opera and was charmed by the name of one of the male characters and swore I would have "one of those." Well, I got one of those.

The name is very cute. It reminds me of Piper which was also unusual at the time when a friend named her daughter.
