Today I Said "MwahahahahaHAAA!" in a Very Villainous Tone.

Have you been dealing with fruit flies this year?

They seem to go along with all the wonderful berries and orchard fruits of this time of year.

I think they are living and breeding in and around the millions of blackberries on the property.

I hate them.

Them come into my house and never leave.

I don't know what they are living off of because I never leave food out.

They attack my face whenever I try to eat something.

They hang out on every mirror in the house.

They fly up in swarms out of thin air.

They seem to be worse this year than any other year I can remember.

I've made traps for them before but none of them were all that effective.

Until now.

(my successful trap)

I don't know what made the difference.

I just grabbed a jar, smacked a sandwich bag over the top, secured it with a hair tie, poked about 8 holes in the top and then realized I forgot the vinegar.  So I took the top off and poured a bit of Heinz apple cider vinegar in and then repositioned the plastic bag.

I put it near the kitchen sink in my house.

These pictures are 3 days after I set the trap.

(view from the bottom)

I'm dumbfounded.  And thrilled.  The problem is pretty much gone.

I am now eating in peace.

They breed in the sinks, and I HATE them!!! It's definitely the time of year when they're out in full force. I need to buy some of that vinegar to be prepared. I ran out. So glad you captured that many!!!

Jamie,

I tried this last year and they ate up my potion. Congratulations and I would have been standing next to you making the same sound. Isn't that a scene in a movie where they are practicing a villainous sound and keep doing it to prove one is scarier than the other? Maybe not.

Thanks for that idea. I'm having the same problem here. Now I know what to do.

OH MY GOODNESS, I so needed this trick a couple of years ago when my kitchen was invaded by those stupid things.
