Today I'm Thinking About Names.

Ugh.  I'm so sick of names right now.

I asked about Elle because the top name on our list would use Elle for a nickname really well.  That being said, I still can't come up with a name for this baby that feels like it's meant to be her name!  Ash and Britt's names were so easy.  And I just knew that they were the right names for them before they were born.  I want that same feeling for this baby!

I hope we get it figured out before she's born.

Also, on the subject of names, but also on the topic of blogging.  I'm curious.  Some people conceal their true names.  Some people tell all.  Some bloggers will give out their names but not their family members.  I've chosen only give out my children's names partially, but I've got friends who just use their kids' nicknames.

What do you think?  Why do you go with using real names or nicknames?

I'll be honest.  The only reason I don't use my childrens' full names is because there are so many people who use pseudo names.  So I'm thinking there must be a reason for caution.  But then, so many others don't worry about it (obvs) so then I think, "Why am I doing it this way?"  I mean, we don't even call Ash, Ash!

So, yeah, input please!

P.S.  Potty training update:  I have no update.  Today was no different from yesterday.  I'm beat.

Potty training- Maybe try next week when you and your babies are not beat about the subject. I introduced the idea in bits. It was never a fast process for me!

Names- I do use them. I like them, they are their names, so why not use them? Someone could steel my name just as easily. Some freak could steel our photos. I probably wouldn't blog if I had to start hiding things. On that note, you have to do what you are comfortable with.

I have a student named Annsley. I thought about your kids names and it possibly fitting. We had Savannah Claire on our list. We're not having anymore, so you can steel if you want. I always like Kirsten from American Girls. I had Kirsten Shae on my list. It won't hurt my feeling if you like none of the above. Just trying to help.

We had such a hard time deciding on Isaak! I loved Jonas, but that was before Jonas Brothers came out! Now I'm glad we went with Isaak. I call him Zeek, Zeeky and Zeeker just as much as Isaak. Sometimes he'll tell me, "Mommy my name is Isaak," then I'm silly and name one of his feet "Zeek" another "Zeeky" and so on. He laughs.

I give nicknames to everyone but adults. I call Ella by her real name because she's completely safe and doesn't need anonymity.
The rest of my kids will also have bug names. My next one will either be Butterfly or Beatle (spelled like the band).
I just prefer the privacy.

I used to be really cautious about my own name being out there, but eventually from working with PR so much it just happened. Then I met bloggers in real life and of course, that's a real name situation.

But for the kids, there's no reason anybody even needs to know their real names so I keep them private. Plus I have one of each, so it's easy to say my daughter or my son.

Hi there! OK, so you visited my blog tonight and saw that I just let it all hang out; pictures of the girls everyday, their real names (sometimes first and middle!), the whole enchilada. My blog is my outlet and truthfully, it annoys me to think about censoring it in anyway. Having said that, I completely respect the fact that a lot of people want to maintain a level of privacy. I'm just not one of them. ;)

So, are you coming to the PNWB meet-up? I would love to meet you!

I figure everyone knows my kids names because I always say them. Everyone at the fair knows Naimis name becayse I kept saying it so I dont care about using it n theblog. I do keep our house location and when we will be away a secret so people wont break in to our house. I think the people that have the hardest time just make thier blogs private.

I wonder this too, especially since they are now on facebook and other websites as well. I go back and forth.

I use our real names! I think that if I start worring about hiding, I would stop blogging...

My kids use nicknames...that are secretly their real middle-names. Honestly, the reason I switched was that there was apparently a p*rn star who shared a stage name with my daughter's real first name. When I started getting creepy google hits...the names changed that night. I didn't want that kind of clientele...reading about my kids, you know?

Good luck with the potty training! We're going on two and a half weeks here. Progress is slow..oh so slow. It took THREE DAYS with Ming Wai. Three days!! SJ is looking like closer to...3 months. haha

picking a name fit for a child is hard. sometimes it's just hard to get that feeling. i knew i was going to name my first son - 'Matthew', but when i got pregnant again for a boy, i struggled with a name. we ended up with 'Mark'. I am just glad I don't have to think about that anymore ... ;)

On the subject of real names in the blogs, well it's really tricky. I put our real first names out there, but I intentionally don't mention our last names, our exact location and I blur photos that suggest those. But sometimes, they slip ... sigh!

To keep our (blog) privacy, I rarely advertise my blog-link and only put it in other reputable blogs. I don't join blog hops that are too cluttered. Basically, I try to keep my blog presence minimal ... hence, i have very low blog hits, which doesn't bother me at all!

Man, I'm behind!! Good luck picking a name- it was super hard third time around for us too. I use nick names... Mostly because I can't control what happens with my blog later. I do it for privacy, and to protect anyone from finding my kids. I do it so if someone googles them 20 years from now, they won't find potty training stories :)
