Today I Went Thrifting.

Ash and I decided to go peruse the local thrift store this afternoon.  My original goal was to look for fabric to use on my latest sewing project (will share more when I'm done with it).  We hit pay dirt (what does that even mean exactly??).  We got lots of inexpensive pieces of fabric, yarn, lace, books, a wooden doll cradle, blocks and a melissa & doug toy.  I'm really excited about this Amy Butler bit that I found.  I'm going to have to come up with something special for it!

(not my usual color combo choice, but there is just something about it....)
On a side note, I finally made myself go through all the baby clothes and wash them.  **sigh**  I feel like doing this and packing my hospital bag (not done yet) are like admitting I'm ready to go into labor.  I'm not.  I think I need to read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth again.  I did that right before I had Britt and it really made me feel excited, empowered and really ready.

P.S.  For those of you who have experienced spontaneous labor before (I have not), did it just hit you?  Or did you get a bit of a warning to let you know it would be happening soon?

Oh... I had some good ol signs. The biggest was the uh hmm.. (bloody show?) ew. But yes. It happened, next day contractions started. Day after that, water broke. Happened both my first and second. Being induced stinks.

I've only had a c-section (no labor-only Braxton Hicks) so i can't help you there. The nurse at the doctor's office said I can do a vbac if I want to, but I have to go into labor on my own. (no inducing!) I think it'll be an incredible experience.

And wow, I am so jealous of your fabric find!! Amy Butler is just something you do not pass up. Makes me want to go thrifting asap.

That fabric is pretty it's a cross between flowers, fans and peacocks.

You hit the jack pot with the Melissa and Doug toy!

I only had C-Sections. Not by choice. I wanted natural labor totally! Mica was turned around and my birth canal is tilted funny (so my doctor says).

Can't wait to see what project you are up to now. You better hurry, you might not have much time for projects after the little one arrives.

Happy sewing! Labor, you will know if it's time to go! No doubt at all.

the fabric looks nice. i wonder what you will be doing with it!

i had to google what 'spontaneous labor' is. LOL! anyway, my 1st with Matthew was induced labor, and scheduled. i had to take 2 pills to start the labor process. it took 3 days for me to start dilating, but the contractions were manageable, so I aimed for all natural birth, until the doctor broke my water! it's the most painful experience in my life! after that, i begged for epidural. the delivery that followed was a little bit problematic ...

i think, with my 2nd with Mark, it's the one that could be considered 'spontaneous labor', the labor and delivery followed all what's expected from the bloody show to the timely contractions until the delivery. I was full-term at exactly 39-weeks. the labor was short, fuss-free, except I was under the spell of epidural. And from the night before Mark was born, I kind'a knew it was time ...

BTW, how far along are you exactly?

I hope you have a safe delivery!
